AI Image Editor: Edit Photos by Describing the Change

Upload a photo, type what should change, and the AI edits that part while keeping the rest of the picture. Swap a background, remove a stranger, change an outfit, fix the lighting or restore an old photo, with no layers or masks.

Editing needs a free account. Most new accounts get 50 credits, enough for about 2 Nano Banana edits at 25 credits each. Failed edits are refunded.

What is an AI image editor?

An AI image editor changes an existing photo from a written instruction. Instead of selecting pixels, painting masks or stacking layers, you describe the result, for example "replace the sky with a sunset" or "remove the person on the left", and an image model redraws the photo with that change. The parts you did not mention, such as faces, poses and composition, stay as close to the original as the model allows.

ViNano runs this in the browser. You pick a model, upload one or more photos and write the instruction in plain language. The result usually appears in about a minute, and you can download it, edit it again with a new sentence, or turn it into a short video. Text-to-image is in the same tool when you want to create a picture from scratch.

How to edit a photo with AI in 3 steps

  1. Upload your photo

Drop a PNG, JPG, WebP or HEIC file into the upload area, or click it to choose a file. Add more photos when you want to combine people, products or backgrounds. On a computer you can also scan a QR code to send a photo from your phone.

  2. Describe the change

Write one clear instruction, such as "change the background to a white studio wall" or "make the jacket red". Say what to change and what to keep. Nano Banana is selected by default, and you can switch models before you start.

  3. Generate and download

Press generate. The button shows the credit cost first, so you know the price before anything is charged. Most edits finish in about a minute. Download the result, or edit it again with another instruction until it looks right.

What you can change with one sentence

These are the edits people make most often. Paste an example prompt into the box above and replace the details with your own.

Change or remove the background

Example prompt: Replace the background with a clean white studio wall and keep the person exactly as they are.

Useful for product listings, profile pictures and passport-style shots. For a transparent cut-out, use Background Removal.

Remove people or objects

Example prompt: Remove the two tourists behind her and fill the area with the same street.

Works best when the object is clearly visible and the background behind it is simple. Name the object and say where it is.

Change clothes and colors

Example prompt: Change his blue shirt to a black leather jacket; keep the face, pose and lighting.

Good for trying on outfits or matching a brand color. Mention the item and its new material or color.

Fix the light or restore an old photo

Example prompt: Brighten this dark indoor photo, reduce the noise and keep natural skin tones.

For scratched or faded prints, Photo Restoration repairs the damage and can add color.

Restyle a photo

Example prompt: Turn this photo into a watercolor painting with a soft paper texture.

Styles such as anime, oil painting, 3D figure or sticker keep the subject recognizable while changing the look.

Add or change text

Example prompt: Add the words "Grand Opening" to the shop sign in gold letters.

Keep the text short and check the spelling in the result. In our tests GPT-Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro handled lettering best.

Ready-made photo editing tools

For common jobs there is a tool with the settings and prompt already prepared. Each one opens this editor with that mode selected.

Models and credits for photo editing

Every model below can edit an uploaded photo. The credits are what one 1K result costs. Free accounts can edit with Nano Banana at the free-account price; the other models are Pro models and need an account that has bought a credit pack or plan. See pricing for packs and plans.

ModelGood forCredits per edit (paid account)Credits per edit (free account)

What a free account covers

  • Sign-up credits: 50 credits for public email providers such as Gmail and Outlook, and 20 credits for company or custom domains.
  • One 1K Nano Banana edit costs 25 credits on a free account, so the sign-up credits cover about 2 edits.
  • After any purchase, the same edit costs 15 credits and the Pro models are unlocked.
  • Credits from one-time credit packs never expire.
  • If an edit fails, the credits it used are returned to your account automatically.

Tips for better AI photo edits

  • Change one thing at a time. Two short edits usually work better than one long instruction with five changes.
  • Say what must stay the same, for example "keep the face, pose and lighting".
  • Be specific about where: "the man on the left", "the top-right corner", "the sign above the door".
  • Start from a sharp, well-lit photo. The model cannot recover detail that is not in the original.
  • If a result is close but not right, edit that result again instead of starting over.
  • Only edit photos you have the right to use, and keep edits of real people respectful.

AI image editor FAQ

Is the AI image editor free?

You can start for free. Editing needs a free account, and most new accounts get 50 credits, which cover about 2 Nano Banana edits at 25 credits each. After that you buy credits; see pricing. The generate button shows the cost before every edit.

Can I edit a photo without signing up?

No. Photo editing needs an account so your uploads and results stay in your history. Without an account you can only create a limited number of ViNano Basic images a day from text.

Which model should I choose?

Start with Nano Banana: at 25 credits on a free account, or 15 after a purchase, it handles most background, object and outfit edits. Try GPT-Image 2 for text and posters, and Nano Banana Pro when faces or products need the finest detail.

How long does an AI edit take?

Most edits finish in about a minute. Pro models and 4K output can take longer. When the result is ready it also appears in your history, so you can come back to it later.

What photo formats can I upload?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP and HEIC/HEIF. You can upload several photos at once when you want to combine them; Photo Combiner takes 2 to 5.

Does ViNano add a watermark?

Edited photos have no visible watermark. The one exception is text-to-image with ViNano Basic at 1K: for guests and free accounts these images carry a small ViNano text mark, and paid accounts don't get it. Some models also embed invisible provenance data; Google's Nano Banana models, for example, add an invisible SynthID mark that identifies the image as AI-generated.

Can I use edited photos commercially?

Our Terms of Service allow commercial use of images you create or edit on ViNano. You are responsible for having the rights to the photo you upload and to any people or brands in it.

What happens if an edit fails?

If generation fails, the credits it used are returned to your account automatically. Some requests are refused under our content rules, for example explicit images of real people.
